There are some events that stay with you long after you’ve left, and my weekend at the Commonwealth Games with Longines was certainly one of them. As the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the Commonwealth Games, Longines invited me to Glasgow to experience the excitement of the Opening Ceremony before spending the following days watching some of the world’s best athletes compete.
It was a weekend that combined elite sport, luxury hospitality and timeless Swiss craftsmanship, creating an experience I’ll remember for years to come.

The atmosphere was electric. From the spectacular performances to the athletes’ parade, every moment celebrated diversity, determination and sporting excellence. It was inspiring to see competitors who had dedicated years of hard work finally stepping onto one of the biggest stages in international sport.
Being there in person is something television simply can’t capture. The energy, the emotion and the excitement of the crowd created an unforgettable start to the Games.

Watching World Class Athletes Compete
After the Opening Ceremony, I spent the following days watching several of the competitions unfold.
Whether it was the speed, precision or sheer determination of the athletes, every event reminded me why the Commonwealth Games are such a special occasion. Behind every personal best, every photo finish and every medal winning performance is an extraordinary commitment to excellence.
It’s also a reminder of how important accurate timekeeping is in elite sport. At the highest level, fractions of a second can separate first and second place, making precision absolutely essential.
That’s where Longines comes in.

Longines, the Official Timekeeper of the Commonwealth Games
Longines has built its reputation on precision since 1832 and has become one of the world’s most respected Swiss watchmakers. As the Official Timekeeper of the Commonwealth Games, the brand plays an integral role in measuring every second of competition with incredible accuracy.
Watching the events unfold gave me a whole new appreciation for the technology and expertise involved behind the scenes. Timing isn’t just about recording results. It’s about ensuring fairness, celebrating achievement and capturing history.

It’s easy to see why Longines continues to be trusted at some of the world’s biggest sporting events.
Discovering the HydroConquest 2026 Commonwealth Games Limited Edition
One of the highlights of the weekend was seeing the Longines HydroConquest 2026 Commonwealth Games Limited Edition.
Created to celebrate the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, this special edition immediately caught my eye with its striking teal gradient dial, inspired by the colours of the Games. Combining a stainless steel case with a ceramic bezel and Longines’ automatic movement, it perfectly reflects the brand’s sporting heritage while maintaining the elegance the Swiss manufacturer is known for.
As a limited edition release, it’s a meaningful collector’s piece that commemorates Longines’ partnership with the Commonwealth Games and celebrates the spirit of competition.

While the HydroConquest embodies Longines’ sporting DNA, my personal choice for the weekend was the beautiful Longines Mini DolceVita.
I wore the elegant two tone model featuring stainless steel with yellow gold accents, a watch that felt perfectly suited to the occasion. Its refined rectangular case is inspired by classic Longines designs and offers a timeless elegance that works effortlessly from daytime events through to evening celebrations.
I love pieces that feel sophisticated without trying too hard, and the Mini DolceVita does exactly that. It complemented my outfit beautifully while remaining understated enough to let the experience itself take centre stage.
For me, it’s one of those watches that will never go out of style.

A Celebration of Excellence
What struck me most over the course of the weekend was how naturally Longines fits within the world of elite sport.
Athletes spend years refining every movement in pursuit of perfection. Similarly, Longines has spent generations refining the art of precision watchmaking. Both are driven by dedication, craftsmanship and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
That shared philosophy could be felt throughout the Games.

Why Longines Continues to Stand the Test of Time
One of the things I admire most about Longines is its ability to balance heritage with innovation. Founded in 1832, the Swiss watchmaker has spent almost two centuries creating timepieces that combine precision, elegance and exceptional craftsmanship. While trends come and go, Longines has remained true to its philosophy that true luxury is timeless.
Throughout the Commonwealth Games, it became clear why the partnership between Longines and such a prestigious sporting event works so well. Elite athletes dedicate years to perfecting every movement, every technique and every second of their performance. In many ways, watchmaking follows the same philosophy. Every detail matters, every component has a purpose and precision is everything.

Beyond the sporting connection, Longines has also become synonymous with understated elegance. Whether you’re drawn to the sporty character of the HydroConquest collection or the refined sophistication of the Mini DolceVita, each watch tells its own story while reflecting the brand’s rich history and commitment to Swiss craftsmanship.
As someone who appreciates pieces that are designed to last, rather than simply follow seasonal trends, it’s easy to understand why Longines continues to be one of the world’s most respected luxury watch brands. These are watches that can be worn every day, treasured for years and eventually passed down to the next generation, making them as meaningful as they are beautiful.
Spending time with the Longines team throughout the weekend also gave me a greater appreciation for the passion behind the brand. Every conversation reflected the same dedication to excellence that could be seen on the field of play, making the partnership with the Commonwealth Games feel completely authentic.

Staying at the AC Hotel by Marriott Glasgow
Our base for the weekend was the AC Hotel by Marriott Glasgow, which couldn’t have been better located for exploring the city and making our way to the Commonwealth Games events. Modern, stylish and incredibly comfortable, it provided the perfect place to unwind after busy days spent soaking up the atmosphere.

The hotel’s contemporary design felt calm and sophisticated, with beautifully designed rooms that made it easy to relax after long days on our feet. One of my favourite parts of staying there was starting each morning with breakfast before heading out for another day at the Games. It was the perfect opportunity to recharge while looking ahead to everything the day had in store.
The central location also meant we were never far from Glasgow’s vibrant restaurants, shops and cultural landmarks, making it easy to experience more of the city in between events. Whether you’re visiting for a major sporting event, a weekend city break or simply exploring Scotland’s largest city, it’s an excellent base that combines comfort with convenience.
After exciting days watching world class sport, returning to such a welcoming hotel made the whole experience even more enjoyable and rounded off what was a fantastic weekend in Glasgow.

My weekend at the Commonwealth Games with Longines was so much more than attending a sporting event. It was an opportunity to witness extraordinary athletic performances, experience the excitement of the Opening Ceremony and gain a deeper appreciation for the precision that makes world class competition possible.
From discovering the stunning HydroConquest 2026 Commonwealth Games Limited Edition to wearing the effortlessly elegant Mini DolceVita, the weekend perfectly showcased the balance between sporting performance and timeless luxury.
It was an unforgettable few days, and I’m incredibly grateful to Longines for inviting me to be part of such a special celebration of sport, craftsmanship and precision.
