Size & Fit: For reference, I’m 5ft 4in (163 cm) and typically wear the smallest size available from most brands.
Some dresses simply make an entrance, and this Karen Millen Floral Woven Twill Collared Maxi Dress is definitely one of them.
The first thing that caught my attention is the dramatic, painterly floral print. Set against a black background, the blurred purple, yellow, green and lilac flowers feel artistic and slightly unexpected, giving the dress a much more editorial feel than a traditional occasion dress.
The silhouette is equally beautiful, combining a halterneck with a tailored shirt collar, defined waist and full pleated maxi skirt. I love the contrast between the structured neckline and the open back, which gives the dress a modern, feminine feel without being overly revealing.
I added a simple underskirt from Amazon underneath to give the skirt even more volume. It completely changes the shape and gives it that wonderful, dramatic movement when you walk.
I kept the rest of the outfit simple with black heeled sandals and minimal accessories, letting the dress do all the talking.
This is the kind of dress I would wear to a summer wedding, the races, a formal London event or any occasion where you want to make an entrance. It’s elegant, dramatic and just different enough to stand out from the usual occasion wear.
