The Beauty Products I’m Using for My Reactive Skin, Rosacea & Eczema

I had a really interesting thing happen in my DMs recently. So many of the women who follow me and also deal with eczema or reactive skin were recommending the exact same brands. And I thought, hang on… if we’re all independently landing on the same products, we might actually be onto something.
My skin has been particularly reactive recently. I get eczema and rosacea, and I’ve been trying to work out exactly what is triggering it. I’ve actually been to the doctors about it, so I’m hoping to have a few more answers soon. In the meantime, I’ve been paying much more attention to what I’m putting on my skin.
Avène has become one of my go-to brands for my face. I particularly love the foam cleanser, because when your skin is reactive, I find the less rubbing the better. I prefer using a foam wash and rinsing it away with water rather than going at my face with cotton pads or a muslin cloth.
I also love their SPF, which I use underneath makeup. It has become one of those everyday products I don’t really think about anymore.
Caudalie is another brand that kept coming up when I was talking to women with sensitive skin. I already use their Vinofresh deodorant and their body SPF, and they’ve recently sent me a whole load of products to try, so I’m going to be testing those properly and seeing which ones work best for my skin.
For the body, I particularly love their Vinosculpt scrub and Lift & Firm Body Cream. They’re a great combination after I’ve done a very vigorous fake tan scrub and want my skin to feel soft, hydrated and rejuvenated again.
For something more affordable, I really like the Garnier body moisturiser. It’s very much a slap it on and go product, which is exactly what I want sometimes. I get quite a lot of eczema around my lower legs, so having a rich body moisturiser that I can apply generously without feeling like I’m rationing it is brilliant.
MooGoo - This was probably my most unexpected discovery.Fake tan and eczema are not exactly best friends. I’ve really struggled to find a tan that doesn’t leave my skin feeling incredibly dry or trigger a reaction.
I came across MooGoo when I was searching for more natural beauty products and thought I’d stumbled across some random little brand. Then loads of women with eczema and rosacea started recommending it to me too.I’ve been using their Natural Tanning Mousse, and I really like it. It’s not an ultra-dark, dramatic fake tan. It’s much more subtle, basically taking the white off your skin and giving you a really natural bit of colour. What I particularly love is how beautifully and naturally it fades.
So if you have eczema but still love a fake tan, it’s definitely one I’d put on your radar.
And a little reality check…
I think it’s easy to come online and assume everyone looks perfect all the time. But honestly, you usually only see my good skin days.If I’d come online on one of my really bad days, you probably wouldn’t have any idea what was going on underneath the makeup. I’m still trying to work out what’s causing my skin to be so reactive, and I’ll definitely share any answers I get from the doctors.
In the meantime, I’m sticking to products that my skin seems to tolerate, listening to the women in my DMs who are going through the same thing and, when all else fails…
letting Dior Backstage work its magic.
